The Challenge
After more than 20 years, a particle size characterizer device developed by Triple Crown’s client was not viable. The device could no longer be sold in Europe (its biggest market) because it was not compatible with the RoHS regulation, which sets a limit to the amount of lead that can be included in devices sold in the European market. In addition, the originating SMEs were no longer available. The customer needed a new device for a growing market.
The Solution
To ensure our client’s ability to compete in the European market, Triple Crown was called upon to build a new device with new hardware and software, improved sample throughput, and expanded range. Our responsibilities included:
- Developing a client application for Windows.
- Developing firmware and an open REST-based event handling system over USB to allow reliable control from client applications.
- Supporting ISO9001:2015, 21CFR Part 11, GMP
- Working closely with the business and its customers to develop exceptional UI/UX.
- The team included:
- Firmware developers (C++/MQX)
- Client software developers (C#, .NET, SQL Server)
- UX/UI designer
The Result
Triple Crown’s improvements brought the device up to current standards and added new functionality. We innovated the product with new advancements. As a result, the client came into compliance and was able to grow existing market share.
